Speaking out
I was sitting at my computer early this afternoon, when I began to hear what sounded like a crowd of people chanting and shouting. I went to my window to see what was going on, and it turned out to be a student demonstration against Trump, one of several going on all over the city. These students from Ingraham High School down the road had marched up to and onto the overpass across Highway 99. Carrying signs, chanting, shouting to passing cars who honked at them, they stayed for about fifteen minutes before marching back to school. Because they were a block and a half away, this was the best photo I could get of the demonstration.
I hope these students will go on to work for their ideals in a productive way. As you can see from the Extra photo, taken at the bus stop after school, these students are of many different ethnicities and religions, the sort of folks who will suffer most under a Trump administration.
My vertigo has become more of a subtle, all-the-time disorientation with headaches, and I'm finding it difficult to concentrate when at the computer. So that is why I've missed a few days of blips and not commented on your blips or responded to your comments for a while. That will probably continue until we sort this out.
I've been thinking about my New Zealand blip friends and hope that all of you came through the earthquakes unscathed and with everything you hold dear intact.
