One seed at a time...
Dear Diary,
The birds are picking up the pace with their feeding but for the little chickadee it is one carefully chosen seed at a time. They don't sit and gobble like the jays. Back and forth they go and it amazes me how much energy they expend for each tiny seed.
In one of my grandmother's common books she wrote down the LaoTzu quote: "A journey of a thousand miles begins with one step." That was very much her philosophy of life, mine too. When I was teaching I would look at what had to be done and then plot out how to get there, slowly and carefully, over time. I never left things for the last moment. It is much less stressful that way.
That is how it is each year with my winter house prep too. Thursday Matt will come one last time and then all will be ready. I see in the long range forecast that they are predicting snow for Thanksgiving Day next week. I rarely worry about things that far away; if it comes, it comes and I will be ready. We are to get some good rain today into tomorrow and I am very happy with that...the more the merrier I say!
