This was taken in the lovely Mary Valley, a part of our district, on the way back from a pleasant morning in Nambour at a "Living in the Thirties" exhibition at their historic museum. The Queensland Premier wanted the valley flooded to provide a reservoir for water to Brisbane, which would have meant the end of many farms and residences in this picturesque area. Luckily it was overruled because of endangered fish living in the Mary River, with much rejoicing from the residents. Sadly some had already left, thinking it would go ahead. What a huge waste of time and stress on the residents, including suicides. Local businesses are still struggling as a result.
