ESSENCE OF THE NORTH
Slept late this morning to catch up on some sleep. After breakfast/lunch I walked down to the village to go to the chemist to get the cream which they didn't have on Monday. Then I got the bus to Newcastle. More Christmas shopping. Spent rather a lot in the Lush shop.
My blip shot shows a couple of views of the Snowdog which is near the Theatre Royal. This one is called ESSENCE OF THE NORTH. It is inspired by the great North East industries and the proud people associated with it. The title and industrial look of the Snowdog depicts the decline of a once thriving industrial area, mining, ship building and the community who are as proud today as ever of their roots.
Its my son in law Mike's birthday today. He and Becky had the day off and have made the most of it. Brunch in Brixton, tour of The Beefeater Gin Distillery, visit to The Imperial War Museum, cocktails aboard the Tamesis Dock which is a floating bar on a converted 1930s Dutch barge on the River Thames - and then a meal in a restaurant. What a day!.
