Future Promise

A rare night out with my friends from Norfolk Alpine Garden Society group, conveniently we meet just down the road from the hospital.  A member brought in a plant of Scilla maderiense, just starting to open it's myriad buds.  The whole inflorescence is shown as an extra but I like the detail of these buds, each one a future beautiful flower.

Amy should be home tomorrow.  Initially very upset at the news as her anxieties remain, her mood was suddenly lifted thanks to a remarkable male nurse.  Fabian is the only male nurse I have seen on the children's ward.  He came to say goodbye at the end of his night shift and talked with Amy about her transgender issues.  An hour or so later, when Amy was low, another nurse arrived with a printout from an email Fabian had sent in after getting home.  A whole page of advice and useful links.  A little act of kindness that touched our hearts.  From then Amy was on the up, dressed, out and about with the OT who will help school with adaptations, chatting with a patient who has become a friend and spending several hours with her case worker from Social Services.  Stepping stones.

Hoping all our futures - and yours - are filled with promise like the flower buds.
