The weird and wonderful world of plants

Looking for an abstract and one of my new plantings provided it. New growth on the psuedopanax ferox or  toothed lance wood. It seems to like where it is.
This is the juvenile stage of the lancewood. In a few years this goes all bushy with small leaves. Most weird.
