Gillis Centre

I am always checking out old orchards, and there is a lovely one at The Gillis Centre, Whitehouse Loan, Edinburgh. The orchard is looking very well kept and there is going to be a reasonable crop of apples this year.

The Gillis Centre is of historical interest with most of the buildings dating from 1834. It was founded at this time to house the first post-Reformation convent in Scotland, known as St Margaret's Convent. You can see St Margaret's Chapel behind the orchard.
