Slabs
Today I went to watch and photograph our countertops being prepared for installation next week.
It's impressive to see these workers manipulate the huge (or is it 'yuge'?) slabs of granite, cut them to the size of the counters and then cut the openings for sinks and other appliances. Lots of noise, dust and water from the water saws and lots of loving care for ensuring that every angle is smoothed out and every piece will fit together nicely. The guys are artists.
The gentleman featured here was cutting the opening for the bar sink for our butler's pantry room (and before you inquire, no, we won't actually have a butler ;) To give you an idea of the size of the slabs before they are cut, see the extra: that's one of six such slabs (different designs on 3 of them) we will use for the house.
Getting these countertops installed throughout the house will add a nice finishing touch. We're almost there! :)))
