Fachwerk Haus

Nice old house? well yes, but this one is different. It wasn't originally built here, but over 300 kms away. Norbert bought it as a derelect and took it to pieces, numbered every piece (red, yellow, green and blue, so there was no mix-up in what belonged where) and transported the bits to this new Site.He also bought an old Barn that was about the same age, 200 years! This was used as a source of suitable timber for parts that were beyond reusing and needed replacements Suitable new Oak is a silly price and would look totally wrong in the house. That was 14 years ago, and the House is now 90% finished, and lived in. I helped to assemble two sides back in 1998, and am so pleased it is now finished. Real fire, genuine oak beams, and a charackter of its own.Even the roof tiles are the originals. If you think the walls are not straight, then you are right! There is hardly a straight line in the whole house !! This made the reconstruction very interesting. To say the least.
