Old Severn Bridge
On leaving our hotel, Chilworth Manor, near Southampton, that's been our temporary home for the last three days, we did some shopping before making our way back to Wales.
We didn't want to leave it too late as crossing the Severn Bridges, especially on a Friday, can be stressful with long queues. I've always wanted to walk along the English side of the Old Severn Bridge so we headed to the little village of Littleton-upon-Severn about a mile from the bridge. It was freezing and overcast.
The blip photo shows the view looking towards The Old Severn Bridge and the Welsh side. The water was low showing the lines left by the tide in the mud.
The mighty River Severn is Britain's longest river. It runs for 220 miles from the Welsh mountains, through the beautiful Shropshire and Worcestershire countryside and down to the flatlands of the Severn estuary.
At a location near to the Severn bridge is recorded the second highest rise and fall of tide in the World!!
