crumpled crown

Up early today to go on a fieldtrip with my birding class and one of the first things we saw was this Belted Kingfisher. When learning new birds I try to think of a feature that reminds me of their name - so in the case of the Kingfisher I think of its crested head as a crown. Well in this case, the crown looks a bit untidy from the early morning fishing expeditions.
