Convict
Edward Reading my 4th Great Uncle b. Warwick , England 1811.
In 1830 aged 19, he and two accomplices robbed a judge (not the wisest of decisions !) in Warwick. He was charged with highway robbery, assault and theft and originally sentenced to death only for it to be repealed to life and transportation to Australia. He survived the trip (many died of disease) and eventually married an Irish convict from Cork who gave birth on the ship during the long trip to Oz!. He lived a long life and died in 1896 in Wollombi, NSW, Australia.
