David Stirling Memorial

Lunch at the newly opened Smiddy farm shop at Blair Drummond followed by a walk along the Teith at Doune Castle (see extra). The frost in the shade hadn't lifted all day but it was a sunny and very still day. Home via Hill of Row to get the views over to the snow capped hills and mountains to the west. The maverick founder of the SAS, David Stirling, is commemorated here with this derring-do statue of him looking westwards. There was a programme about him on the radio recently. He was someone who created a niche for himself and others of a similar disposition.
