The Bewicks are landing and I feel every sinew in my body just overloaded with admiration for them having travelled the  4,600 miles from Siberia. Sacha Dench has been recording their progress in a motorised paraglider and has been following them along their migration to try and see what the problem is with their declining numbers. They need to be, '....incredibly tough to complete the gruelling journey. I have an engine support team and, even so, it's without doubt the most physically and emotionally challenging thing I have ever done,' she said after learning that Charlotte, one of the the Bewick's she has been following had died in Estonia. She has dislocated her kneecap in the process of doing the flight! Every year hundreds of Bewick's don't make it thanks to illegal hunting, power cables and wind turbines, plus loss of wetlands and habitats. 

I personally feel we all need to be more aware - even better.. do something!
