More Fringe

Big sleep, a couple of Fringe shows in town, then home for dinner and resting before diving tomorrow.

Fringe show #33: Love in the key of Britpop
An enjoyable but bittersweet poetic narrative about girl's life as she meets a guy, falls in love and marries quickly so he can get a visa. All presented against a backdrop of Britpop references which I loved, but might mean nothing to you if you were not a serious fan back in the day. The last ten minutes was particularly good, as the tone changes and we hear her hopes for the future.

Fringe show #34: Once upon a time (in space)
I watched this, I loved it so much, but I have no idea what it was supposed to be about. Some sort of space pirate musical act thing. Loads of guy-liner and sea shanties about fairytales and fighting in space. But daaaaark. A bit confusing. But who cares? The main guy was outstanding - what a voice, tremendous charisma and stage presence. Hot hot hot. It would be unfair to the others to say he carried the thing, but he was a cut above.
