The Bell Inn, Selsley
Rosie, my sister, visited us today and we went to eat lunch at The Bell Inn, Selsley, just outside Stroud. As we walked round to the entrance we saw this wall plaque of a replica old map of the local area. It was made out of clay and then fired which I thought was a very interesting plaque to have on the old pub. I also noticed that in the clay it had been signed by Jane Ford, whom I saw at a meeting of the Stroudwater Textile Trust last week. She is very talented.
I wanted to include the original postbox built into the wall as I think they are wonderfully evocative features of a nearly bygone age, when people actually wrote letters to each other.
