First Snow...
The first snowfall of the year ... we awoke to a little over an inch of heavy, wet snow this morning. Some periods of snowfall throughout the morning and temperatures that never got out of the 30's made it look and feel like winter. A far cry from yesterday's bees and lady beetles!
As is always the case when it snows, the feeders were mobbed. I stood quietly outside for awhile this morning, bundled up against the temps, and enjoyed watching the birds and squirrels cram down as much bird seed as possible. Chose this photo somewhat at random mostly because I'm a sucker for a bright red cardinal in the snow. You can see 3 other shots on Flickr, starting HERE - the second one in the series was my alternate choice of a blip for today.
The medication seems to be helping my back - still hurts, but not anywhere near as uncomfortable as the last few days. Hopefully I can squeeze in a trip to the chiro before we leave for Washington on Wednesday. Either way, though, at least I'll be okay for the drive.
Lunch today with a long-time and very dear friend, one of my three "besties." Hubs and I and she had a lot of laughs and a few somber moments too. Just what we all needed, I think. Her mother is on a similar memory-loss trajectory to my mother-in-law's, so I think it's probably good for us to share some of that with each other. There isn't a play-book for this so I guess we all just try to do the best we can.
Had a great chat with my parents this morning who are now in Arizona where they'll stay for the winter. They sounded cheerful and happy to be back in the desert - which also makes me very happy.
Thank you for stopping by...
