Wind Band Competition

Despite many years of playing in brass bands, I (Tim) have never competed with a wind band.  That all changed today after we both took part in a performance at the Northern Region of the National Concert Band Festival.

The performance went as well as we expected and we came home with a gold award.

In a major difference from brass banding, the competition isn't against all the other bands.  The adjudicators simply award a level to each band (Platinum, Gold, Silver, Bronze) based on a mark sheet.  It's very welcoming and relaxed.  Results are given out after every four bands or so.
