Books galore...

In to Berwick after work to pick up Lucy and her friend Jake, who have come to stay for the weekend.

Intentions to do the food shopping earlier in the week came to nothing so, after a quick cup of tea at the flat, MrM drove us down to Alnwick via Alnmouth for the customary walk on the beach with Louie. (It was dark and the tide was in, so it was a very short walk by torchlight. Jake probably thinks we're mad!) Then, while MrM and I did the shopping, Lucy and Jake browsed the shelves at Barter Books, and lounged on the comfy sofas and warmed themselves by the open fire whilst deciding which books to purchase. No better way to spend an hour or so!

Only upon leaving Barter Books did we realise that an awful lot of people were converging on Alnwick - for the switching on of the Christmas lights. Luckily, we found a table at Carlo's and our fish & chips were served before the crowds poured in!

After a quick walk round Alnwick to look at some of the lights we headed for home, to relax...
