Tale of Two Ships

Following in the footsteps of Christopher Columbus...Santa Cruz De La Palma.

Here we have a replica of Santa Maria, the wooden ship Columbus sailed across the Atlantic in and discovered America.

In the background is our cruise liner.
Two boats separated by over 500 years - and their passengers could not be more different.

When Columbus set off he would have taken with him a young Spanish crew and provisions for three months at sea. His mission was to discover new lands.

On our ship there are 1,300 British mostly retired people with an Indonesian , Phillipino and Ukrainian crew with a Greek captain .
Our mission? To find a bit of winter sun.
