Day 1 of camp
Change of weather - grey, cooler, a bit of thunder late today and now some light rain (10PM). Another change, from quiet to LOUD with these 3 monkeys (grandchildren) here. After lots of pancakes for breakfast, they fixed up their "stores" to sell, 1)electronics, 2)pets and other cool stuff and 3) magic potions; then they had to make a lot of different colored money in the studio, then Oskar had to make a concrete brick. Now it's only 10AM and so the day goes....... We managed to get a tarpaper roof on the wee boatshed that was leaking, E, A, and Oskar went to the farmer's market on Galiano, and after lunch E, A, the boys and I were off to take a walk on the trails. E had the rake along and must have hit a yellow jacket nest in the trail as they suddenly swarmed us - we ran but 4 out of the 5 of us got stung- Nik was ahead and they missed him. Both my hands are swollen up even as I write this, but the good news is the epi pen was not needed --perhaps I'm not so allergic anymore? Tatum, who stayed behind sulkingreading in her bed because she didn't want to go, was the winner ! ("I can predict the future", she says) Change of plans: we had to make chocolate chip cookies for comfort food.
Still some time for the beach -little boys playing with swords and hammer (I liked this shot with that SALT youth training ship is in the background...) and a movie (Percy Jackson and the Lightning thief) after a yummy dinner that A made...and I'm so ready to fall into bed! good night!
