Queueing For a Choc Top
Went to the movies tonight with Cymbeline.
There's no cinema in Blackheath, tho there was one, The Victory, which opened in the 20s. Apparently a young man rode on a motor bike at interval to Katoomba, where he picked up the reel for the next feature, and on Saturday night there were traffic jams in Govetts Leap Rd.
Imagine that, all you Blackheathens!
Enough of Blackheath, the nearest cinema now is at Mt Vic, a few kms up the road.
Known as Mt Vic Flicks, it is small, charming and cheap, and tho the sound isn't great, and the seats not the most comfortable, I far prefer it to the large complex in Katoomba.
The owners put out their own brochure with a star rating and a bit of criticism thrown in.
Such things as, 'If you like X, you'll love this.'
The theatre has just celebrated 25 years, but, sadly, I don't think they'll be around much longer.
