Black-Bellied Storm Petrel
Day 1 proper of the Birding Trip to South Africa, a pelagic from SimonsTown near Cape Town. Even though it was as calm as it could possibly be, the trip out the trawlers was still horrendous and I came back with a damaged Coccyx and binoculars.
Very difficult to select just 1 shot from the 2000+ I took of 5 species of albatross, various petrels, skuas and sheerwaters, but in the end I went for this black bellied storm-petrel. When I uploaded a shot of this to Birdforum, they said it was the first of this species they'd ever had.
