Going to pieces

One of my colleagues keeps a permanent jigsaw on the go in the coffee room and a number of people try to slot a bit in over coffee.  They're clearly deriving some level of catharsis from this but I find the whole process a little frustrating.  This seems at odds with my appreciation for other games and puzzles but on this one I can't catch where the appeal is.
