Preston
It isn't my favourite City but I had an enjoyable day wandering around Preston today. I was pleased to find that this structure, Preston Bus Station seems to have survived demolition threats. I didn't much like it when I had to park my car there every working day from 1978 to 1983. Its brutalist 1960s style isn't to everyone's taste but as a piece of immense abstract imagery I now find it striking and worth preserving.
Buy way of great contrast, Preston has some grand public buildings and some terrific parks, still boasting vibrant autumn colours. The redeveloped docks, which closed in the 1980s, are also worth a visit on a sunny, still day.
I am contemplating a Preston Superlative Walk. So far, the most well-known superlative is that the Preston By Pass was the UK's first stretch of motorway.
For anyone who is wondering about my mystery macro image from yesterday, today's extra photo gives the answer - a lemon zester.
