Fungus

In the storm force winds on Saturday night, a large branch crashed down from the pine tree on the school field. Since then, the field has been cordoned off. Today we had a lesson in tree surgery. Three men were sent up the tree to assess the damage and the safety issues. Large patches of fungus were found and two huge branches had to be removed. In the interests of conservation, we had one branch made into bark chips for the children to use in the Bug hotels that they love constructing. The other branch was sawn up and will made into stools for the outdoor classroom. Genius!
