Twinning

I have just returned from a committee meeting the Fishguard and Goodwick twinning committee. We are twinned with a coastal town in Brittany called Loctudy and we are due to visit them next year.This year was the 25th anniversary of the original twinning and I had the honour , as Mayor, of welcoming a large party of visitors from Loctudy on this special occasion. We also personally hosted the Mayor of Loctudy and her husband for the four night they were here. This is one the most enjoyable civic occasions of the year and we are really looking forward to the return visit next year as being out of the office of Mayor I will be able to let my hair down a little more..
Apart from the enjoyable side of twinning I believe the movement has a serious and valuable side. Visiting our friends in France and entertaining them in our homes each alternative year cements our relationship and understanding which is so important for our long term peace and wellbeing.
