New lifeboat

The thumbnail shows the materials used to make the RIB on the back of MV Eigg.  I tried to buy one at toy fairs, swap meets, internet but couldn't find one in scale.  In fact the only one suitable that I know of is on my Grandson's layout in Sydney - and I gave it to him.  Wouldn't be right to ask for it back!

So I wracked my brains for ideas on how to make my own.  I cut up a drinking straw to get the angles and turns right, filled the tube with DAS filler to make strong joins and coated it all in liquid resin.  After much sanding and fiddling I ended up with something resembling the real thing.
