Saying goodbye

We really had a great Thanksgiving day at my son's in North Carolina.  The fire in the area is still there but the smoke was gone and it was a beautiful day with good food, family and friends.

On a sad note, this photo is of Pearl, their dog of 16 years.  She is having many health issues now and they have decided it is time to let her go one day next week.  They have already talked with a vet who will come to the house and take care of her, then perform the cremation and they will be able to get her ashes for burying on the hillside where she loved to lay in the sunshine.    They got this dog, part German Shepherd and part wolf,  when my oldest granddaughter was less than a year old.  

I gave her some good ear rubbing today which she really loves.
