Study night...
A (longer than anticipated) day at work, and then an evening at Summerhall listening to folk play their music. First up was Siobhan Wilson, who seemed a little shy, but played and sang beautifully. Next we had the wonder that is Woodpigeon. I love listening to him play (and chat). Watching him completed my hat trick of beardy men with guitars this week (see Monday for the other two). Lastly on stage were Modern Studies, in their last show of their first year together. Their album is one of Mojo's Top 50 of the Year...if that means anything.
I just liked their sound.
And I also loved the visuals on the wall behind the stage, of the Montreal Expo from 1967(?), provided by the hairy Russian doll that is Bart.
A grand evening- apart from the woman who decided to ring someone for a chat, in the middle of a (quiet) Modern Studies song....I think she finally got the hint and left after so many folk were staring at her. Who would be so rude as to do that?!!
