Hot dogs!

Our younger daughter and son in law, who live in London, are looking after our older daughter's two dogs, whilst she and her family are on holiday in France.

Today we met up with them to walk on Hampstead Heath. So, here is a picture of the two dogs. Not a good one, but I had forgotten how difficult it is to take a photo of a dog who is never still . . . and getting two in one picture is just about impossible. I took better photos of things like buildings today (they do tend to stay in one place!), but decided in the end to stick with this one.

An amazing, and actually quite frightening thing, happened whilst we were on the Heath. We were walking along playing with dogs, when we suddenly heard a tremendous cracking noise behind us - like very loud fireworks. When we turned round we could see some disturbance in the trees and watched quite horror-struck as a huge (and I do mean huge) branch of a tree pulled away from the trunk and fell down with a crash to the ground, leaving an enormous raw hole,. Fortunately, there was no one near at the time or there could have been a nasty accident. A group of people soon gathered - stunned by the enormity of what had happened.

Of course, we eventually had to stop at a pub and get a drink, just to calm our nerves, and as we could sit outside in a lovely garden with the dogs and they were still serving Sunday lunch . . . No actually this had all been planned beforehand by our very efficient daughter (not the tree incident, I hasten to add!)
