Kokeshi

Traditional Japanese wooden dolls make popular gifts and souvenirs. Modern ones reflect popular culture with hello kitty dolls found in many stores.

I love these vintage ones. Often with the most delicate facial features drawn with a calligraphy brush, they have the artists signature hand painted underneath.

Maud and Harold now grace my lounge and if this rain keeps up they may feature in tomorrow's Blip!
