Huizingen Provincial Park and half of Belgium
Described as:
A family park in a superb natural setting. An oasis of peace on weekdays'.
Hmmm, there's a reason why the weekends weren't mentioned!
We decided to make the most of this 30 plus weather and head to the outdoor swimming pools today as we'd heard good things about this park. To be fair it was another fantastic find and again not too far from home but the crowds just kept on coming and coming. To the point that the life guards were blowing their whistles non-stop as there were so many people in the water. As far as we could tell there seemed to be no limit to the amount of people they were letting in and we were getting a but jittery as the toddlers were all trying to get on the water slides in 'their' pool and lots of pushing was going on and Olivia was wanting to go in the big pools which were extremely busy. It was very difficult to relax so after about an hour and a half we persuaded the children (who were completely oblivious to the crowds) to leave so that we could go to the playgrounds and have ice creams. Even as we were leaving the queues to get into the pools were huge.
However once we left we did discover an 'oasis of peace' as the park was in a beautiful setting with a train, animals, amazing playgrounds, lakes, pedalos, trampolines and a splash pool! If we'd have known that we would have gone there instead of the swimming pools. Oh well, no doubt we'll be back!
I hope this blip is okay and doesn't offend anyone as I don't know anyone in the photo and hoped it would be okay to use as it's quite hard to really see any faces.
