First Sunday of Advent
We have been in full-on catch up at home this weekend. Lots of sorting and chores.
This year has moved on too quickly, I cannot quite believe we are already at Advent.
I put this CD on this morning. It is one of 27 (all doubles, so that is 54 disks) which I collected over a number of years. They are recordings of live concerts which took place between Christmas 1999 (Weimar) and Christmas 2000 (New York), and which represent a musical pilgrimage to celebrate the turn of the Millennium. The pilgrimage involved the Monteverdi Choir and English Baroque Orchestra singing all the surviving liturgical cantatas of JS Bach, as near to the date in the liturgical calendar for which they were written, and in all sorts of places. The first disk on this CD has the cantata for the first Sunday of Advent, recorded in Cologne on December 4th 2000.
The Millenium year seemed a time of optimism (if you were not worrying about the millennium bug).
