Glasgow Central Tour
Went on the Glasgow Central Tour, around the hidden parts under the station. In this areas in 1914 to 1916 bodies were laid when they where brought back from the trenches. In was in this make-shift morgue that Glaswegian wifes and mothers would identify their loved ones and then pay to have them taken away for burial.
Soon afterwards, the War Office determined that the fallen would be buried in war cemeteries where they fell.
Paul, the Network Rail Historian at Glasgow Central, provided a very moving commentary on this part of the station's history.
