Day 6 - The Wishing Well Band Tour
Today we woke at 7.30 which was a pinch as I was absolutely shattered having got to the travelodge last night only to have a 2 hour rehearsal sprung on me... Sigh... It's all good though. I understand the reasons behind it.
Had our Asda smart price Museli in the car park of the travelodge in Reading. living the dream!! then headed for Oxford. I felt like I had been teleported as my seat in the van is right slap bang in the middle so can't exactly see out too much and I was plugged in listening to the sets so when we arrived 2 hours later I was a bit disorientated! Anyway...
Got to our pitch on Cornmarket Road in Oxford, in the city centre. Beautiful place! And started performing for a few hours... I'm still pretty burnt so I think am very tired from that alone let alone lack of sleep... Our first set (for me) was bad, I missed a lot of moments, riffs and words... As I play lead violin and also sing harmonies along to quite a few of the songs...
We had a break for about an hour while someone else busked (busking rules are different in every town) and started up again. This time I absolutely nailed my parts. in the break I had quite a few haribo and swear that did the trick! so yeah, I was rocking out the second half!
A kind man who was holding a advertising sign for his ice tea shop brought us 8 free ice teas! It was great! Beautiful... I think the shop was Forosun or something.. We also got a few free wraps from pret a manger!
This picture is of Mr G (bassist + backing vocals), myself, and Eva (cellist) outside today at our pitch in Oxford.
Thanks for the constant following blippers. I'm finding it hard to get a chance to blip - I always have a photo just no chance to do it... But once I get into the swing of things I'll have plenty free time where I don't need to practiced it is 21.58 we are in the tour bus on our way north to Bedfordshire where we will stay tonight then move on to busk in Sheffield tomorrow. Tonight I have a lot of practice to do before I get to go to sleep.
