Salt & Sauce

My Dear Fellow,

I do not approve of posting pictures of dinner. Just so you know, I am against the practice.

However, this is theoretically a diary of my last months in Edinburgh, and so some things need documenting. Tonight, I ordered "salt & sauce" special, so that I could take a picture of this peculiarly Edinburgh practice.

I know it divides Scotland. Funnily enough, I don't really have strong feelings on the subject. I probably lean a little more toward sauce, but vinegar has its appeal too.

Punky is equally ambivalent. I bought an extra fish for him and he ate that. Then he came and sat next to me and had some of mine too. What a little guts.

Punky and I watched James Cagney in "The Lady Killer" together which was good fun. I can't say it was one of his best. It wasn't exactly a coherent storyline, just some scenes strung together. But as one of those scenes involved 20 monkeys gatecrashing a Hollywood party, I'm not complaining too much.

In other news, Jasper is unwell. This is worrying. He has until the end of the week to feel better, or only one of us is going to NZ. Watch this space and we'll watch Jasper.

El P.
