In the Shade of the Old Oak Tree.

This little one foot high holly is several years old; I assume that its growth is somewhat stunted due to its being snuggled up against the oak tree. There won’t be much room for its own roots down there, neither will there be much food for it though, this being Scotland, there won’t be any shortage of water.
