Show-off
We woke up to a beautiful day and decided to get out and do something different. It was just the five of us for a change and so after a breakfast of kippers and fried eggs we decided to go to our local zoo.
The Hartbeespoort Dam Snake & Amimal Park is a small zoo next to the dam. They have a large collection of snakes which Mr G loves to see. The Chimps were entertaining and always remind us how far we have come as humans. One of the moms was so loving towards her little baby. Soothing it by rocking and patting it just like a human mother. It was touching to see her. They also have a very large and beautiful male lion as well as gorgeous lion cubs. The meerkats enjoyed posing for photographs and we had a good laugh at the brown bear who used some poles to help scratch his back and then proceeded to stick his tongue out at us.
This beautiful peacock gave us a wonderful show of his amazing feathers. I couldn't upload a better quality photo because the pixels were too large for my phone's capacity. But I think you can still see that the colour of the "eyes" came out brilliantly!
I am not a big fan of zoos but they are a wonderful way to see these amazing animals up close. We stayed to see the seal and snake show before heading back home. The zoo's refreshment cafe was under renovations so we stopped at McDonalds for a bite to eat.
Our friends from Friday night are selling a car so we went over to take it for a test drive. They have a Border Collie who was rescued called Milly. Milly is afraid of men but has finally made friends with Mr G.
