Feeding the birds, Mote Park
A brilliant day today, cloudless blue skies, bright sunshine but cold with a sharp northerly wind. We were up and out at a reasonable time to enjoy the sparkling weather in Mote Park where I spotted Granny holding on to junior as he was energetically feeding the frenzy of birds on the lake. So many coots too, a great black mass of them churning up and down the water after the food.
I spent the afternoon at the allotment while Susan tidied up all the leaves in our garden (most of which came from a neighbour's tree, all of which blow off into our garden not theirs. Still it's leaf mould for us). Laid down some weed suppressant matting and planted 30 strawberries along with a row of autumn peas. It said on the packet they could be sown in October and November. We're just still in November! Harvested some leeks and a swede. Leeks for tonight's leek, bacon and rosemary pasta soup and the swede for scotch broth later in the week.
