Ribblesdale

Many hours spent on the train today - with an extra hour to drag an increasingly resistant bag from Ryton to the station in Wylam. Unfortunately the good weather didn't last and the rain closed in - and what I'd been told was some of the best train journeys along the Tyne valley were obscured in mist. Still managed to get a peek at hadrian's wall though.

Had an hour to kill in carlisle before my train to Settle, and spent it getting soup and sandwiches from a cafe in town, before a similarly misty journey onwards to Settle, where I was met in the 'stage rain' by a drenched Fay, who took me down yorkshire's smallest streets to her (very nice) home.

After tea/dinner/supper we headed on a walk about town, with some amazing views over the dales. Lush lush lush.
