River Itchen from the Toll Bridge

Such lovely light today. This is the view from the Itchen or Toll Bridge the most southerly of the bridges that cross the Itchen. In the distance in the middle of the shot is Southampton FC's stadium and to the left of it you should just about be able to make out a church spire. That is St Mary's church. When Southampton FC was first formed it was called St Mary's Church of England Young Mens Association hence their nickname "The Saints"


The shadow in the photo is the bridge itself and for good measure there's a flight on its way into Southampton Airport
