A day of contrasts

At this time of the year, one side of the valley at the nature reserve never sees the sun. This morning, as I prepared for a work party coppicing part of the woodland, it was still -4 degrees and the contrast between the frosted section and the sunny section was striking. The grass and scrub in the foreground didn't thaw all day. Luckily, the area where we were coppicing was in strong sunlight and we were able to strip-off!
