Unearthly
We searched all day for a sign of life, a signal that we were not alone in this hostile, unearthly environment. We'd all but given up when cresting the ridge it was seen hiding in this secluded dry valley, all alone, stunted but surviving. The last tree standing. It gave us hope, a testament to tenacity, evidence that the impossible is no match for the wonder of the improbable.
I felt a little delirious all day, my head not quite fitting straight on my head. It's possible that someone has worn me out!
