Up in the belfry

We were invited up on the roof of the church in our village this afternoon, so we climbed the ancient stone spiral staircase, went out on the roof, and climbed further up into the belfry where the big bell and several dead pigeons were. The views were great.
The bell ringing is automated now, but due to complaints from guests in the village hotel, it doesn't ring too early in the mornings!
