Day Off

Today is Katie's day off from panto rehearsals this week. So at 530 am she got up and tried on her costume for the school panto. At 6am she started practising her other panto dances and showed me bits from the school one. Still in her costume. At 7 she moved onto practising clarinet- she's been given a solo for the orchestra concert and we've found a backing track for what she's playing. I finally convinced her out of the costume to get ready for school!

The "day off" continued in school.... a singing rehearsal, extra dance at lunchtime and a break time rehearsal with the orchestra teacher for her solo!

We had a wonderful time after school. We had been planning today for ages- it's our only evening off in a good long while. So we went for "festive afternoon tea" at the garden centre - turkey sandwiches, chocolate log, Christmas cake, mince pie, the works. And then we went to pick our Norman! Katie talked me out of the smaller size up to one size bigger. One she spotted and declared to be "absolutely perfect". The man offered to bag her for £5, after the tree, but funnily enough she rejected the offer!

On arrival home, I went to retrieve the stand for the tree from the bottom of our path, I abandoned the plan very swiftly as I had forgotten Norman 2015 was in fact still resident in the stand.... oops....
