North British Distillery

A thoroughly interesting evening getting a tour round the North British Distillery ground and plant in the evening. George used to work there, and one of his apprentices, who went on to become a director, is about to retire, so we got a very exclusive little guided visit. Started and ended in the boardroom - the end had food and, of course, whisky. And while most of their stuff is grain whisky bound for blends, they also put away some of their own (with very little going out into the real world). The row of six was there, and we were told we could try whatever we wanted. So naturally I went straight for the unopened 50 year old. And very good it was too.

Wondered if I'd be allowed to take the camera in. But even the phone had to be left in a locker (not even the workers are allowed to take phones in - something apparently to do with possibly explosive gases). So despite some great photo opportunities, no opportunity for photos.

Great night though.
