Young Maid
A couple of months ago I booked up a little treat for myself, which was an afternoon at Shakespeare's Birthplace Trust. First of all a lady who had previously won some big floristry accolades (such as world champion!) showed the group of about 15 of us, (both men and women, and none of whom I had met before) how to make a Christmas display - not a wreath as such, but a really lovely display consisting of all sorts of greenery such as various types of pine, holly, ivy, dried apple slices, cinnamon, pine cones, plus baubles and ribbon. Now I'm not an "arty" person at all, but I was absolutely delighted with my results.
After that the lady in the picture took us around Shakespeare's Birthplace, which is the building behind her and is only a few yards from where we did our workshop.
Following this we went back to the hall where they served us afternoon tea complete with sandwiches, scones with clotted cream, cakes, plus tea and Prosecco. While we ate, we were entertained by some players who played out various pieces from Shakespeare.
All in all it was an excellent afternoon, and far better than I had expected - I thought it was just the class on how to make the floral display.
Funnily enough this is only a few yards from where I took yesterday's Blip, as that shop is the other side of the street, beyond the hedge in the background.
