cravings
Couldn't stop thinking about Victoria sponge when I woke up this morning so I decided to make one. The cakes rose too well so it's turned out massive! :)
Pierre went into town this morning and got some oil for the tank (we were nearly out). We had duck for lunch with spuds and pepper sauce.
I did some work this afternoon and then called at dad's to pick up some firewood. Just a bit of kindling to keep the fire going. He had been out cutting a few Christmas trees - one for the village church, one for my sister, and a wee one for Pierre and me :)
I then got my Christmas cake in the oven and it's turned out lovely. Again, really well risen! I find it hard to tell if it's cooked the whole way through but it was in the oven at 150C for 2hrs 20 mins so I'm sure it's fine. It's been well doused in whiskey since coming out of the oven and I'll feed it another couple of times before Christmas Day...if I can wait that long to try it! :)
So, Christmas tree is here and can be decorated tomorrow. And the cake is made. Maybe I'm not gonna ignore Christmas this year after all!
