Rainbow Tree!

I'm approaching my first Christmas as a single mum. I'm a hopeless nostalgic, and going through the box of old decorations with all of their associations and memories has been very upsetting, and difficult. I decided this afternoon to do something totally new and different. Ditching the old red/gold and blue/white colour schemes, I went for a rainbow tree instead. A tree-decorating frenzy ensued, just half an hour before school pick-up, and this is the result. I am in love with it! Lights on, and lights off. Didn't even need to buy any extras - it's a tree on a budget, complete with ukuleles (a Christmas present from Auntie N a couple of years ago), and all of my Mum's artificial flower arrangements, deconstructed :) When the boys got home they filled in the gaps by adding toy planes and hotwheelz cars in the right colours, and we topped it off with an atomic looking 'star'; an expanding ball thing they bought in a charity shop in the summer. Amazing how creating something can totally change the mood. I'm uplifted for the first time in a while.
